Toronto's North by Northeast announced some big changes for the 2016 instalment of the festival that involve ditching the club-hopping format for a new outdoor stage setup in the Port Lands. There will still be a series of curated club shows, though, and organizers have just revealed the first round of artists slated to partake in the Clubland initiative.

Kamasi Washington, the Joy Formidable, Screaming Females, Eagulls, Moving Units, Pere Ubu, King Khan and the Shrines, Stonefield, the Hunna, Bertrand Berlin, the So So Glos and the Big Ups are all slated to appear.

A couple of specific show lineups have also been detailed, with Bionic, USA Out of Vietnam and the Yardlets taking over the Garrison for a Quebec showcase; Cold Specks, DIANA and Escondido teaming up at Lee's Palace for the Billions Canada Showcase; and the Union Label Group bringing the Brains, the Beatdown, K-Man & the 45s, Dig It Up! and Danny Rebel & the KGB together at the Hard Luck.

NXNE will run from June 13 to 19 at venues across Toronto. Individual tickets go on sale April 8 and start from $13.50. Full details can be found over at the NXNE website.
