Published Oct 07, 2009In a classic David vs. Goliath situation, Nova Scotian acoustic/electric indie rockers Tom Fun Orchestra will be competing against the likes of the Prodigy, Röyksopp and Coldplay on October 13 at the UK Music Video Awards.
The Canadian eight-piece ensemble were flabbergasted to find out their video for "Bottom of the River" got the nomination nod for Best Animation in a Video, alongside Coldplay's "Strawberry Swing," the Prodigy's "Warrior's Dance," Birdy Nam Nam's "The Parachute Ending," Röyksopp's "Happy Up Here" and Hauschka's "Morgenrot."
The band's leader, Ian MacDougall, told Exclaim! being nominated alongside such big A-list bands was pretty "ridiculous" and that the group hadn't even officially released the video but they "figured this nomination has created a good opportunity for us to do so."
We've often raved about Tom Fun Orchestra's live shows, so let us be the first to congratulate the band on their nomination and wish them the best of luck in kicking Coldplay's royal hineys.
You can check out the video for "Bottom of the River," which was only added to YouTube today, below.
