A rocking set from Not Of proved that appearances could be deceiving, with just the drum and guitar duo having no problem reaching the apex of all that is heavy and noisy. Of course, it helped that guitarist John Ex had half of Smiling Buddha's cozy stage space dedicated to his three separate guitar amplifiers and massive pedal board. Though some might have scoffed at his elaborate display of gear, it was used effectively, and allowed the two-piece to rock a little harder than the sum of their parts.

After introducing the crowd to a strong, driving rock riff, Ex clicked a stompbox to add a menacing low end harmony to his axework. From there, clicking a fuzz pedal drove the entire rig into further sonic insanity. Never once distracted by the array of effects at his disposal, Ex's roaring vocals were executed flawlessly alongside his furious riffing, backed by the incredibly tight drums of Jason Seance.
