Northern Lights Festival Boreal Announces Performers

Adding to the slew of big-name performers hitting up smaller Canadian cities this summer, Don McLean has signed on to headline the Northern Lights Festival Boreal in Sudbury, Ontario. According to a report by CBC, Mr. "American Pie” has only three Canadian appearances scheduled for 2008, including performances at the Calgary Folk Fest and Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest in addition to his Northern Lights gig.

Some highly esteemed Canadian artists will be joining McLean for Sudbury’s three-day event, running from July 4 to 6. The Sadies, Great Lake Swimmers, Miracle Fortress, Kobo Town and Daniel Belanger are all on the festival’s roster, and so are Sharon & Bram, sans Lois (no word on if they’re bring along that big elephant puppet but I’m sure they’ll bring that "Skinnamarink” you’ve been jonesing for since childhood).

Whether you’re in it for a slice of "American Pie,” a dose of Canada’s finest indie artists, some family friendly folk, or you just really want to hear X founder John Doe rocking out with the Sadies, Sudbury’s Northern Lights looks to be one of the summer’s most eclectic Festivals.
