Adding to the slew of big-name performers hitting up smaller Canadian cities this summer, Don McLean has signed on to headline the Northern Lights Festival Boreal in Sudbury, Ontario. According to a report by CBC, Mr. "American Pie has only three Canadian appearances scheduled for 2008, including performances at the Calgary Folk Fest and Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest in addition to his Northern Lights gig.
Some highly esteemed Canadian artists will be joining McLean for Sudburys three-day event, running from July 4 to 6. The Sadies, Great Lake Swimmers, Miracle Fortress, Kobo Town and Daniel Belanger are all on the festivals roster, and so are Sharon & Bram, sans Lois (no word on if theyre bring along that big elephant puppet but Im sure theyll bring that "Skinnamarink youve been jonesing for since childhood).
