Norma MacDonald Announces 'Burn the Tapes'
On Norma MacDonald's website, 2011's Morning You Wake is still listed as her new album. That will soon change, however, since the Nova Scotia songwriter has another full-length ready to go. This one is called Burn the Tapes, and it will be out on June 9.

The 10 songs were recorded over a 13-month span in Upper Musquodoboit, NS, at Mountain Road Studio with returning collaborator Phil Sedore. ThisĀ marks the first time MacDonald has served as the sole producer of one of her albums.

The track "Lighten Up" is a duet with of Gabe Minnikin of the Guthries, while "To Nebraska" is an homage to Bruce Springsteen. All in all, the album is said to be "at turns scrappy and slick, naive and confident, playful and heavy."
