Norah Jones (aka your parents' version of Feist) will be releasing a new album titled The Fall. As usual, the album will feature more of Jones's trademark singing, although this time she's enlisted some songwriting help from pseudo-indie luminaries like Ryan Adams and Okkervil River. Similarly, Jones also made some hip choices when she asked Beastie Boys, Beck and Santigold to remix some of the album's tracks.
In an interview with EW, she explained, "With the way things are nowadays in the record business, every outlet wants extra content. So we decided to have people I admire do some remixes. The Beasties Boys did one, and Beck, and Santigold; I love Santigold. There are elements in her record that inspired me to try little things here and there. Some of her songs are great pop songs but they have all these cool instruments on them and they sound kind of organic even though they're electronic. Those were the kind of sounds I was going for on my album."
Expanding on those statements, Jones revealed that she's wanted to work with Beck for quite a while. "At a certain point, I almost thought, 'Well, maybe I should just ask Beck to produce because I keep looking to work with the people he's worked with.' But I didn't try." Imagine how good that would have sounded!
Hopefully the remixes will make up for the missing Beck collaboration when The Fall is released on November 17.
