Earlier this month, Oasis fans were treated to "Bring the Light," the first song from Liam Gallagher's new band Beady Eye. The old time boogie-woogie number must have lit a fire under his brother's butt, as it's now been reported that Noel Gallagher is at work on a record of his own.
Ready to match wits with the band formerly known as Oasis 2.0, the English songwriter is said to currently be in the studio prepping the solo effort. A report from the BBC has guitarist Miles Kane, who also jams with Arctic Monkeys main man Alex Turner in Last Shadow Puppets, admitting that he recently cut a song with Noel Gallagher.
"I play guitar on one of his songs for his album," he said. "I was only there for a couple of hours. I did my thing."
The album appears to be slow going, though, considering an earlier BBC report that had Noel explaining his plans of late. "I'm moving house and my missus is nine months pregnant so I'm not doing anything until well into next year," Gallagher admitted.
While there isn't any more info about the elder Oasis brother's solo debut, he and Kane also perform together on Kane's own album My Fantasy, due out sometime next year. The two apparently agreed to work together via text messages.
"I was mixing the record and I was going to do these harmonies to give it a boost -- it was a bit flat," Kane told the BBC. "I text [Gallagher] saying, 'I need some icing on this tune,' and he said, 'Icing is what I do very well.'"
It's likely that Beady Eye's Steve Lilywhite-produced set will hit the market well before Noel's new one, but the fact that he's writing and recording again suggests his artistic drive will, uh, live forever.
