No Doubt Working with Major Lazer

It's been ages since onetime ska-tinged popsters No Doubt graced us with any new material, but now that frontwoman Gwen Stefani has stepped out of the solo game, the band are ready to get back in action. Though the Top 40 favourites haven't put out an album since 2001's Rock Steady, they've brought along some more contemporary collaborators this time around to bring them up to speed. Namely, the dudes from Major Lazer.

Late last night (July 20), No Doubt tweeted a pic of themselves kicking it in the studio with Diplo and Switch, not to mention a king's ransom of laptops and cables. According to the band, the Major Lazer track is called "Push and Shove."

However, Madonna/Depeche Mode producer Mark "Spike" Stent is said to be producing the bulk of No Doubt's as-yet-untitled new album.

With none of the new material leaked quite yet, it's hard to say how this will sound, but here's hoping the get together yield some tripped-out, dub-y electro magic, à la "Pon de Floor."
