Ladyhawk

"No Can Do" (demo version) (video)

It's been a while since we've heard anything new from Vancouver's rugged yet heart-tugging party rockers Ladyhawk. Since releasing their sophomore LP Shots back in 2008, the outfit have taken to a number of projects, including Sports, Baptists, and Duffy and the Doubters. The band have, however, slowly been working on material for album No. 3.

This demo version for "No Can Do" puts the band back on track via super-fuzzed-out production values and fist-pumping rock riffs. Lyrically, lead singer Duffy Driediger is on point with crushing lines about trying his best at a doomed relationship. "I don't know what I could have done to please you," he quips amidst a rousing chorus of "sha la la's."

The stop-motion animation clip sets the mood with stacked candles and a jack-o'-lantern carving scene that culminates in a pumpkin barfing its innards out. Just like us that night we pounded a sixer of PBR before one of the band's gigs.

So far, there is no word on when we can expect Ladyhawk's new album, whatever it may be called, to drop.
