Nite-Funk

"Let Me Be Me"

It has been six long years since rhythm-rippled retro-futurist Dâm-Funk and chilled-out songwriter Nite Jewel first announced plans to deliver a collaborative EP as Nite-Funk, and the time has come for them to finally deliver their release next month. For now, you can get a taste of EP track "Let Me Be Me."

As you may expect from the pair, the song is dripping in '80s electro-funk excess, adorned in nightclub coke-binge hues of neon pink and yellow. Quarter note chimes of guitar collide with four-on-the-floor slap grooves and slippery keyboard leads, while Nite Jewel smoothly sings about letting go of inhibitions and keeping it authentic.

You can hear the squadded-up Nite-Funk collabo below, while the rest of the duo's debut arrives July 1 through Glydezone Recordings.

In related news, Nite Jewel released her Liquid Cool solo album earlier this month, while Dâm-Funk recently delivered a DJ-Kicks compilation.
