Published Jun 24, 2015From a variety of movies to a potential new Kurt Cobain solo album, interest in grunge gods Nirvana has hardly waned over the years. As such, it only makes sense that a new reissue of their posthumous 2002 collection Nirvana is on the way.
The album mostly serves as a greatest-hits collection with 13 tracks from the band's back catalogue. It also notably debuted "You Know You're Right," the last Nirvana song committed to tape.
When it was originally issued, the album was only available on CD in North America, with a European vinyl edition currently fetching over $100 on Discogs.
Fortunately, fans looking for a new slab of Nirvana wax will be able to pick from two different versions when Universal Music drops a reissue on August 28. The album will be available on a standard 33rpm version, as well as a fancy 45rpm double LP pressed on 200-gram vinyl.
Audiophiles looking for a digital edition of the album will be happy to note that it will also be released via Blu-ray Pure Audio, where it can be played in high res 96kHz 24-bit in three different stereo formats.
