Nine Inch Nails' New EP Will Get Your Hands Dirty

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Mar 2, 2017

In releasing their Not the Actual Events EP last year, Nine Inch Nails promised fans who purchased their new effort that a "physical component" would arrive in the mail alongside the release. Fans have now begun to find said physical component in the mail, though it's a bit messier than one would have thought.

Listeners on Reddit have discovered that "physical component" is an envelope containing a series of liner note sheets in addition to a black powder and cryptic note.

The disclaimer on the front of the envelope reads clearly, "this physical package may lead to unrealized expectations or unexpected results upon opening. Caution should be exercised with both. AND THIS IS IMPORTANT...This will make a mess."

As those who opened the envelope found out, the mysterious powder inside easily stains hands, prompting some to ask, "who the hell had the idea to make packaging like this?"

Not the Actual Events arrived last year.
