Nikola Sarcevic

Lock-Sport-Krock

BY Sam SutherlandPublished Aug 1, 2004

The debut solo effort from Millencolin’s lead man is a decidedly more relaxed affair than any full-band efforts released to date. Primarily acoustic, mostly country songs are what compose Lock, a record filled with sparse arrangements and intimate vocals. Though Nikola’s distinctive voice draws immediate comparisons to Millencolin, the gentle nature of songs like "Love Trap” could not be more different from the ska punk fury of Nikola’s other work. While the lyrics can be a little uninspired at times, one can’t help but get the impression that Nikola is singing with all of his heart; and that may not always be the most poetic form of expression, but it is certainly one of the most touching.
