Borrowing their name from a Public Enemy song, Edmonton, AB twins Nes One (rapper) and Dj Agile Agility's (producer/DJ) honour their lineage by following in PE's political footsteps, illuminating listeners on subjects such as conformity, brainwashing and the need for knowledge, with songs like "Shut Off The Machine" and "Modern Day Slave." Also a student of Rakim, Nes flexes his vocal skills on old style braggadocio tracks "M.C." and "Microphone Phenom," the latter presented in autobiographical form. Like Chuck and Ra, Nes keeps his commanding flow simple, concentrating instead on wordplay and storytelling. DJ Agility's provides a perfect complement of dark, murky music, a return to gritty new school pioneers like Ultramagnetic MCs, Darc Mind and Public Enemy, punctuating partner Nes One's topics with a sweet selection of vocal samples from films as diverse as Taxi Driver, Roots, Wizards and Afro Samurai. By taking advantage of their undeniable chemistry, Night of the Living Bassheadz have crafted a natural collaboration that stands as proudly professional despite its lo-fi production.
