Not only is Nigel Godrich playing in his own band these days, but the revered record producer is focusing his attention back on his From the Basement TV show for another series. The program, which features live performances in an intimate basement setting, will be returning this summer with another stellar selection of bands.

Among the artists signed up for the third season of From the Basement are the Shins, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Feist and Foster the People, Entertainment Weekly reports. You might remember that the Shins appeared on the original TV series back in 2007/2008. See one of those past performances below.

Excitingly, this season will air in July on 3net -- that's right, the 3D channel. For those who don't get 3D TV, the show will also be available for your smartphone or videogame system through Crackle in August.

"I was quite cynical about it when it was suggested to me," Godrich told Entertainment Weekly about doing the show in 3D. "I'm very careful about anything that seems like a gimmick, but the technology is so good and it looks so amazing. When you see a photograph of an Impressionist painting, it doesn't really make sense until you go to France and stand in the museum and watch this thing vibrate in front of your face. It really is another level of intimacy, and it really translates in a really sophisticated way."
