Nicki Minaj Explains Her Grammy Performance: It Was All Part of Her New Movie
Nicki Minaj's performance at the Grammys last Sunday (February 12), featuring dancing priests and the singer/rapper doing a bizarre rendition of "I Feel Pretty" in a makeshift confessional booth, may have had some scratching their heads, but the performer is now explaining that it will all make sense once the conceptual appearance is presented as part of a new film she's working on.

The rapper spoke about her plans for the as-yet-untitled film project last night (February 15) at a charity event for Viva Glam MAC cosmetics, for which she's an ambassador. While there's not enough context thus far to rationalize why her Grammy date for the night was a man dressed up like the Pope, or why her performance (watch it below) was spiked with an Exorcist-themed cut scene, Minaj feels the oddness of her routine has been blown out of proportion.

"I don't know what is the big issue?" Billboard quotes Minaj as saying. "You know how people write plays and movies? That's what I did. I wrote that and I gave the world a tiny little preview of what was to come. And so I have to perform it on the set in which it would be in the movie, right?"

As previously reported, Minaj's next album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, will be released April 3. It's unclear if the film will arrive at the same time.
