Published Sep 12, 2018Having brought the best of the best of Japan's indie and underground music scene to Canada for nearly a decade, Next Music from Tokyo has announced the details behind its 13th edition, set to take place in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver this year.
For the first time in the tour's history, its 2018 edition will feature a band from outside Japan with Taiwan math rock outfit Elephant Gym. The group will begin a world tour with the NMFT dates, promising energetic performances loaded with "intricate, yet clean" instrumentation.

Since 2010, Next Music from Tokyo has been curated by Toronto-based anesthesiologist Steven Tanaka, who travels to Japan five to seven times a year to scout the annual lineup.
