New York Politician Claims Afrika Bambaataa Molested Him as a Child

A former New York State Democratic Committee member and judicial delegate named Ronald Savage has come forward with some shocking accusations about hip-hop forefather Afrika Bambaataa. In a book and new interview, the Bronx-raised Savage claims that Bambaataa repeatedly molested him when the former politician was around 13 or 14 years old.

The book is called Impulses, Urges and Fantasies, and it reportedly contains allegations that Bambaataa forced a young Savage to perform oral sex on him. It also says that Bambaataa repeatedly sodomized him.

Despite the book being published back in 2014, Savage opened up about the allegations in a new interview with Shot97.

"I was a kid when this happened," the author said. "I wanted to be down with the in-crowd, not really understanding that what Bambaataa was doing to me was molesting me. I knew it was wrong. I had these feelings that were like, 'Yuck.'"

As is often the case with sexual trauma, Savage was afraid to speak out at the time. Now, unfortunately, the statute of limitations for Savage to press charges has expired.
