Published Jun 19, 2009Brampton, ON indie tech punkers Moneen have announced a release date and name for their upcoming new album. The record is reportedly set to drop on September 15, the band said in an interview with The Neeners.com [via Punk News].
And while that September date has now suspiciously been removed from the original interview, the disc will most certainly will be called The World I Want to Leave Behind.
For this album, the band's fourth, it appears they has finally learned a valuable musical lesson. Moneen says that they're focusing more on songs this time around and not just being tech for tech's sake.
"I think we're over the whole 'tech' rock thing. We have nothing to prove," Punk News quotes the band as saying of the new record. "Now it comes down to writing a good, simple song. Still, we have trouble doing that sometimes. I don't know how it happens, but the simplest song can turn into crazyness once we start working on it."
And this is good news for those of us that like good news: these guys can chase their tails around like it's no one's business, but as the wild success of AC/DC in recent times proves, when times are tough, we just want some good simple rock.
The album comes hot on the heels of the Hold that Sound EP, which came out in June.
