Published Nov 12, 2012English record company Something in Construction is home to the likes of Memory Tapes, Air France, and more, and now it has launched its own vinyl-only sub-label. Dubbed Demand Vinyl, the new imprint is launching in 2013 with a 7-inch singles club featuring an impressive roster.
Each single will feature an A-side from a well-known act backed by a contribution from a newer artist. Among the contributors are Hot Chip, Memory Tapes, Saint Etienne, Air France, Niki & the Dove, Laetitia Sadier (of Stereolab), Levek, and more. There will be 10 singles in all, which will be packaged together in a deluxe box. Expect some extra gifts as well.
Demand Vinyl have begun selling copies through a PledgeMusic campaign. The first four singles in the set will be mailed together with the box, while the subsequent six will arrive at one-month intervals. Each single will come with a mixtape from the artist and a video podcast explaining the song and the recording.
The PledgeMusic campaign features various levels of support. You could get your face put on the label of one of the singles, or, for a whopping £4,000 ($6345.48), have your song featured on a bonus 7-inch as part of the series. More modest packages are also available, so check it out here.
