Luckily for us, there seems to be a truly endless trove of unreleased Arthur Russell songs floating in the ether. And even more luckily, people continue to find them — a new album called Picture of Bunny Rabbit (arriving June 23 on Audika) promises nine previously unreleased Russell songs, including "The Boy with a Smile," which you can listen to now.

Like the rest of the record, "The Boy with a Smile" was recorded in 1985 or 1986 at Battery Sound in New York, with additional material recorded in Russell's East Village apartment. It was previously available as a live recording.

Picture of Bunny Rabbit (the title track of which was written for a friend's pet rabbit) features tracks from completed masters found on two test pressings, one of which was provided by Russell's mother and sister, according to the record's Bandcamp description

Prior to his death in 1992, Russell had only actually released one traditional solo album — 1986's World of Echo. However, his music has been extensively collected and reissued in the decades since; the latest was 2019's Iowa Dream.
