We have been hearing murmurings of a new Neurosis record since the tail end of 2014, and while it clearly didn't come out last year as the band had planned, we're only a few months off from its actual arrival. Titled Fires Within Fires, the Bay Area metal act's next record sees release September 23 through their own Neurot Recordings imprint.
Not many specifics have been shed behind the powerhouse group's 11th full-length studio release, but Fires Within Fires will be the first new album from the band since 2012's Honor Found in Decay. Back in 2014, frontman Scott Kelly noted that he was heading out to band member Steve Von Till's home in Idaho to "hammer out some skeletons of songs" before bringing the pieces to the full band.
News of the album comes in the wake of the group's recent 30th anniversary performances in San Francisco, as well as last Friday's (June 16) deluxe vinyl represses of 2001's A Sun That Never Sets and 2004's The Eye of Every Storm. You'll find out more info on those reissues and their various limited-edition colourways over here.
More info on Fires Within Fires is expected in the lead-up to the record's September release. In the meantime, you can check out Neurosis's forthcoming European tour schedule down below.
