Today (January 6) marks the first release of the year from hard-working Vancouver imprint 1080p Collection, who've kept it local with an album from Vancouver act Neu Balance.
Across 12 tracks, the duo (composed of Sam Beatch and Sebastian Davidson) offer their unique take on outsider electronica and house music, utilizing weird samples, field recordings and standard instrumentation to create something truly compelling.
As 1080p itself puts it: "Rubber Sole drifts in and out of a borealic yet lush minimalism and over to a jumped-up maximalism that is also present in their live shows. It also blurs from a sort of pre-apocalyptic and overtly filtered, processed and generally heavy synth layers and partially dismantled beats into a bright naturalism/pastoralia."
