Neneh Cherry Announces Four Tet-Produced Solo Album

After releasing her collaborative album with the Thing (suitably titled The Cherry Thing) last year, genre-bending Swedish performer Neneh Cherry is gearing up to release her first solo album in 16 years.

The album doesn't have a name yet, but it's expected in 2014 via Smalltown Supersound. The whole thing was produced by Four Tet, and includes collaborations with RocketNumberNine and Robyn.

A press release explains that the album was made over five days, with Cherry completing two songs per day. "It was a liberating experience, not endlessly trying to fiddle with the music, re-recording hundreds of times," she said. "These days it's easy to create any effect or sound on a computer, it is much harder to get the rawness I think we've achieved."

Stay tuned for more information on the new release as it becomes available.
