Neko Case Streams 'The Worse Things Get, the Harder I Fight, the Harder I Fight, the More I Love You' on Exclaim.ca

New Pornographers member and respected solo artist Neko Case is back with another LP, and ahead of the much-anticipated September 3 arrival of The Worse Things Get, the Harder I Fight, the Harder I Fight, the More I Love You via Anti-, the entire thing is available to stream here on Exclaim.ca.

The album was once again largely recorded with Darryl Neudorf (Sarah McLachlan, the Sadies) at Wavelab Studio in Tuscon, AZ — the same site where most of 2009's Middle Cyclone was tracked.

"The big difference was that Darryl and I mixed with Tucker Martine in Portland," Case tells Exclaim! "It was an electrical journey through space!"

The result is perhaps the most diverse album she's ever made. The album includes some uncharacteristically dissonant rock guitars ("Wild Creatures," "Man"), acoustic balladry ("I'm from Nowhere"), haunting a cappella ("Nearly Midnight, Honolulu") and horror movie soundscapes (the first half of "Where Did I Leave That Fire").

According to Case, this eclectic sound was inspired by "a desire to try something a little more far-reaching and also something more simple and stripped-down for some songs."
