Neko Case Announces 'Wild Creatures' Compilation Album

The career-spanning collection includes new track "Oh, Shadowless"

BY Alex HudsonPublished Apr 19, 2022

It's been 25 years since Neko Case released her first album, and the iconic country noir songwriter is set to look back on her career with a retrospective album. Wild Creatures is out digitally this Friday (April 22) through Anti-.

Wild Creatures consists of 22 highlights from Case's back catalogue, plus the new song "Oh, Shadowless." Wild Creatures takes its title from a song on 2013's The Worse Things Get, the Harder I Fight, the Harder I Fight, the More I Love You.

Case's website will feature animated artwork by Laura Plansker to accompany every song. The website will also include short essays and track-by-track commentary from friends, collaborators and admirers, including A.C. Newman, Dan Bejar, M. Ward, David Byrne, Shirley Manson, Jeff Tweedy, Rosanne Cash, Waxahatchee, Julien Baker, Kevin Morby, Allison Russell, Margo Price and more.

See the 23-song tracklist below. Below that, check out Case's tour schedule, which is largely in the US but also includes a Vancouver stop. There's also a streaming concert on May 19, which is exclusive for subscribers of Case's Substack newsletter.
