Neko Case

"Hell-On"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Mar 6, 2018

Neko Case served up some apocalypse realness yesterday (March 5), revealing a cigarette-fuelled fiery hellscape on the cover art for her new LP Hell-On. Now, she's unveiled that record's title track.

In a press release for the new record, Case noted that she writes "from a feeling of solidarity with folks who feel alone or isolated," adding that "I think I'm trying to comfort people in this way."

She also admitted that "my style is odd" and described her voice as "loud, heavy-handed, nasal, vibrato-less" — likening it to Bulgarian folk singing or "a droning caller of wasps."

Find out exactly what that sounds like by listening to the first snippet of material from the upcoming album. Stream "Hell-On" below.

Hell-On is due out June 1 via Anti-.
