Neil Young and Crazy Horse have teamed up for a new version of their 2019 Colorado track "Shut It Down," in the hope to spread a message of support for physical distancing in the wake of the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.

The band say they made the new version with its politically-charged new video "as a document of Earth's reaction to 2020's historic pandemic."

In a statement, Young offered a message of hope and resilience in the wake of the ongoing crisis:

These are uncertain times. I wish you all the best as you care for our sick, the young and old who we love so much. Sending the best wishes to all the health care and government workers all over the world, to all the scientists who will learn and share with us the best ways to ensure survival in our world challenged. Let's all work together and stay positive that we will find a way. With love to all, in all walks of life, all political persuasions, all colors. We will succeed working together for the good of our world as we are here together, hanging in the balance of nature.

The clip shows healthcare workers in masks, as well as goats, geese, foxes, dolphins and various other wildlife animals reclaiming empty streets, landmarks, playgrounds and parks across the world while its human population remains in lockdown. The video also shows footage of people ignoring physical distancing recommendations while partying it up on the beach, holding sidewalk birthday parties and kids still going to school.

Young has remained outspoken about the global event during isolation, producing a number of "Fireside Sessions" from his home in Colorado, performing at former presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders's virtual rally and participating in Willie Nelson's virtual Farm Aid event to support farmers displaced by the pandemic.
