Published Jun 14, 2015Neil Young's new album The Monsanto Years is co-credited to the Los Angeles band Promise of the Real. For those who wanted to learn a little bit more about the backing group, they have now released a behind-the-scenes trailer shedding some light on the album and how the collaboration came about.
The members of Promise of the Real are longtime Young fans, and their band name was even inspired by a line from the On the Beach song "Walk On." In a series of interviews, they explain how they first started collaborating with their hero and they discuss how the collaborative process for The Monsanto Years worked. We also see a few short clips of all of the musicians jamming and hanging out.
One key piece of information that's missing from the clip, however, is that Promise of the Real's Lukas Nelson is the son of Young's friend Willie Nelson.
Watch the mini-doc below. The Monsanto Years is due out on June 29 through Reprise.
