Published Jun 22, 2015Neil Young is taking on major corporations and genetically modified foods with his new album The Monsanto Years. Now, with a week to go until its June 29 release through Reprise, the entire LP is available to stream.
As expected, the record is packed with politically-charged lyrics that emphasize environmentalism, mistrust of corporations, and the plight of workers and small businesses. Somewhere, Donald Trump is listening and shedding a tear.
The nine songs were made with Los Angeles band Promise of the Real (which features Willie Nelson's son Lukas). Sonically speaking, they touch on both Young's folksy inclinations and his love of noisy, distorted rock.
