Neil Finn Climbs 'Dizzy Heights' on New Solo Album, Plays Vancouver and Toronto on North American Tour

BY Alex HudsonPublished Nov 21, 2013

Veteran New Zealand songwriter Neil Finn fronts Crowded House and plays with his wife in Pajama Club, but his latest endeavour is a solo album. Dizzy Heights will be out on February 11 through Lester Records, and it will be followed by a North American tour.

Finn recored the album at his own Roundhead studio in Auckland and in Upstate New York. It was co-produced with Dave Fridmann (MGMT, Tame Impala, the Flaming Lips).

"I didn't want to make it a solo record in a stripped back singer-songwriter sort of way," Finn said in a statement. "I had a feeling Dave would be good at adding some odd shapes to the music, which I always welcome — making things a little more expansive. He is good at subverting things, and making things sound a bit messed up and not as obvious, rather than being too tasteful, which is always a temptation."

The cover art is above and the tracklist is below. At the bottom of the page, watch a video for the cinematically quirky album cut "Divebomber." The album can be pre-ordered from iTunes, with "Divebomber" and "Flying in the Face of Love" available as instant downloads. Physical copies can be pre-ordered here.
