Hear Necronomicon Unleash Symphonic Brutality on New Song "Paradise Lost"

BY Joe Smith-EngelhardtPublished Aug 22, 2019

Longstanding Quebec death metal act Necronomicon perfectly balanced atmospheric sounds with crushing brutality on their 2016 album, Advent of the Human God, and they're coming back now with something equally extreme. The band's upcoming record, UNUS, is arriving October 18, but we've got the exclusive on their first single from the album right now.

"Paradise Lost" delivers a mix of thrashy black metal riffs and symphonic elements in the vein of Behemoth or Dimmu Borgir. The band explained the meaning behind the track in a statement, saying, "It's not what we gain in this life, but what we have lost as living beings that lost their way in conforming against our true nature to fit in a world that in reality is just an illusion.''

Necronomicon recently received a special Canadian certificate of honour from HS Production, promoter Tommy Tremblay and the people of Saguenay Lac St. Jean for their 31-year career. The only other band to ever receive this honour is legendary thrash band Voivod, making it a truly spectacular achievement for the death metal trio.
