Navy Skies Announce 'The New War' EP

BY Alex HudsonPublished Mar 24, 2014

Punk-tinted Toronto indie rockers Navy Skies have yet to issue a proper full-length, but they have a few short-form releases to their name, and the latest of these is The New War EP. This five-song collection is slated to drop on April 8.

The EP was recorded, produced and mixed by Sydney Galbraith. During the sessions, the band delved into their punk influences, with sonic touchstones including Hot Water Music, Constantines, Get Up Kids and the Weakerthans. According to an announcement from the group, "These five songs are equal parts catchy and sincere, fusing together infectious riffs with attentive hooks."

For a taste of this, stream the lead-off cut "New War" below the tracklist below. It shifts between quiet, atmospheric passages and climactically distorted crescendos.

The EP is available to pre-order digitally at Bandcamp. It follows last year's "Cut My Teeth" 7-inch.

Navy Skies will also celebrate the EP with a release show at Toronto's Sneaky Dee's on April 4. It also includes the Dying Arts, the Folk and the Kerouacs, and the $10 admission includes a free copy of The New War.
