Published Aug 01, 2013Hardcore-leaning Indiana indie rock outfit Native are preparing for the August 20 release of their sophomore LP Orthodox via Sargent House. Now, they've offered up a taste of the album in the form of "Coin Toss."
The song sports angrily distorted guitar licks and aggressively hollered vocals, which churn spikily for almost three minutes before the arrangement is stripped down and the track concludes with a quietly atmospheric guitar outro.
Orthodox was recorded with Greg Norman in Tolono, IL, and in Chicago. Guitarist Ed O'Neill said in a statement: "We'd burned out on that math-rock term, and lyrically too we wanted to take ourselves out of the equation. The music is calculated, but raw."
The album is available to pre-order here.
