Published Jun 06, 2011This week, radio programmers, volunteers and personalities from stations countrywide will descend upon Halifax for this year's National Campus and Community Radio Conference. Hosted by CKDU 88.1 FM, the 30th annual edition of the event will find people discussing the current state of grassroots radio while tackling issues from basic media skills to covering social and cultural issues.
But while the conference offers a lot to learn for its participants, the NCRC is also hoping everybody has a good time. Thusly, it has also booked some entertainment throughout the event, which runs from June 6 to June 10.
On top of keynote speakers like CBC's Jonathan Goldstein, Haitian Women's Radio Activist Marie Guyrleine Justin and Rich Terfry (aka Buck 65), the event will include a handful of performances to spice up the evenings at various Halifax venues. Artists lined up include Shotgun Jimmie, Old Man Luedecke, Rich Aucoin, Fes & Ambition, Nick Everett, Laura Peek, Paper Beat Scissors, Field Assembly, Jenocide and Audrey & the Agents, among others.
