Published Feb 13, 2009New York indie troubadours the National have announced that they'll be playing a series of North American shows this May. The tour, which includes Canadian stops in Toronto and Montreal, will find the band testing out some of that new material they've been talking about.
Besides the tour dates, the band produced the previously announced Dark Was the Night benefit comp for AIDS fundraising and awareness. The comp includes appearances from Sufjan Stevens, Broken Social Scene, Yo La Tengo and so many others.
Last but not least, National member Bryce Dessner's annual contemporary music festival, Music Now, will take place in Cincinatti, OH on March 11th and 12th, and will include performances from Kronos Quartet and the Books. The Kronos Quartet will be performing new works written by Battles' Tyondai Braxton and the Arcade Fire's Richard Reed Perry.
