The National

'Mistaken for Strangers: The Play' (ft. Zach Galifianakis and Ted Danson)

BY Josiah HughesPublished Jul 22, 2014

Earlier this year, New York indie act the National released their Mistaken for Strangers documentary. The film was equally poignant and humourous, meaning it'd be great for a stage adaptation. At least, that's what a new Funny or Die sketch would have you believe.

The clip stars former Bored to Death co-stars Ted Danson and Zach Galifianakis. It follows the two, faux-documentary style, as they work out scenes from the play. Galifianakis says he turned down the role of Shrek on Broadway to do the play, explaining that he had already done Shrek off Broadway. Danson says he's excited to reverse the creative process by adapting the documentary for stage.

In addition to the actors, the short film stars the National's Matt Berninger and his brother, Mistaken for Strangers star Tom Berninger.
