Nas Takes 'Illmatic' Documentary on Fall Tour with Full-Album Performances

BY Alex HudsonPublished Aug 12, 2014

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Nas's seminal rap classic Illmatic, and the man himself has been celebrating the occasion with a reissue, documentary and series of full-album performances. He has now extended his anniversary plans into the fall, booking more live shows and film screenings.

This autumn tour will last for more than two weeks in October. In that time, Nas will travel through North America, hitting up Toronto on October 8 and Vancouver on October 16, in addition to a number of U.S. cities. At most of the shows (including both of the ones in Canada), there will be a film screening of the documentary Time Is Illmatic prior to the live performance of the entire album.

For those who won't be able to catch any of the shows and screenings, Time Is Illmatic will be available on demand and through iTunes starting on October 3.

Time Is Illmatic was directed by One9 and written by Erik Parker. It's a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the creation and legacy of one of the most highly regarded hip-hop albums ever. Scroll past the tour itinerary below to watch a trailer.
