Nardwuar's Evaporators, Andrew W.K., Shout Out Out Out Out, Mode Moderne Team Up for Mint/Olio/Light Organ SXSW Party

The streets of Austin will be packed once again this month for the city's annual South by Southwest music festival, which runs March 13 to 18. Considering venues all across town will be hosting hundreds upon hundreds of bands, it may be hard to pick your route, but Mint Records, Light Organ Records and Vancouver's Olio Festival are hoping you'll stop by for their joint showcase on March 15.

The free afternoon party, which Exclaim! will be sponsoring, takes place at Austin's Headhunters, and it will collect a cross-section of talent brought to you by each organization. Olio Festival founder Jason Sulyma will kick off the festivities with a DJ set under his nom de plume My!Gay!Husband!, and the concert will see performances from Light Organ artists Sun Wizard and Mode Moderne, as well as Mint roster vets Kellarissa and Nardwuar's the Evaporators, who will be performing with Andrew W.K. Also appearing will be Edmonton dance punks Shout Out Out Out Out.

Supporters of the West Coast enterprises that can't make it down to Texas have a chance to support their scene tonight (March 2) when all three organizations will collaborate for a SXSW fundraiser at Vancouver's Biltmore Cabaret. Like the Austin gig, both Mode Moderne and Sun Wizard will perform, while Mint will be represented by eclectic popsters Hot Panda.

Mint, Light Organ and Olio's SXSW show isn't the only Austin-area event sponsored by Exclaim! this year. Earlier this month, we reported that Dare to Care Records and Planète Québec will hold a show at Spill Bar on March 16 featuring sets from Fanny Bloom and Adam & the Amethysts, and the venue will also host the Scène 1425 party with Yukon Blonde and Said the Whale on March 17.
