My Morning Jacket Ready Exclusive EP For Record Store Day

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Mar 16, 2009

Like so many good-hearted bands, My Morning Jacket are lending a hand to this year's Record Store Day with an exclusive release. Dubbed Celebración De La Ciudad Natal, this new seven-track offering by the Kentucky weirdos will come out on April 18 and be available exclusively at participating Record Store Day shops.

The record features a selection of tracks recorded last year at two hometown Louisville shows: one at local record shop Ear-X-Tacy and another at their city's Waterfront Park. In a statement, the band say they are "excited to make this a special release that you can only get at your favourite local independent record store, as now more than ever we all need to take the time to celebrate what our favorite local record stores and businesses mean to us - the value of community/human-to-human, non-internet-related physical and spiritual contact - and support the hardworking people in your community who strive everyday to keep it unique and keep it local."

This new My Morning Jacket EP is only one of many exclusives lined up for Record Store Day. In fact, there are so many that it's becoming a daunting task to keep track of them all. Thankfully, the folks over at the MBV blog have been keeping a detailed and ever-expanding list of the exclusives, which you can view here.
