My Morning Jacket

Framed by an odd narrative involving a dated Victorian party, a My Morning Jacket show filmed at the Fillmore West last year looks truly stunning. What could be a particularly extraordinary live concert movie enters another realm via a conceptual story (of sorts) by MMJ’s Jim James. Rebuffed at a formal mansion gathering, a man spots a llama across the room and escorts it into a forest. The unlikely duo is drawn to a pulsing synth and bright lights, and stumble upon a MMJ concert. An awesome, wide-ranging set is filmed magically, with intermittent shots of this gentleman enjoying himself. While the spirited concert ends triumphantly, the mystery dude’s life doesn’t.
