My Bloody Valentine Coming to North America

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Apr 23, 2008

Well, it’s finally happening: My Bloody Valentine are going to hit North American shores once again. For the first time in 16 years, the recently reunited shoegazer outfit will perform in the U.S., starting things off at the All Tomorrow’s Parties festival on the weekend of Sept. 19 to 21 at Kutshers Country Club in Monticello, New York. What’s more, according to the Daily Swarm, the headlining festival performance will be followed by a short North American tour, where the band will hit up six to eight yet-to-be-named cities.

Only recently, sources close to My Bloody Valentine reported the group wouldn’t be ready to play the U.S. by April’s Coachella festival. But apparently the few extra months are ample time for the band to perfect their live chops and even allow them to curate a whole festival, which they will be doing with New York’s ATP. However, no word yet if the My Bloody Valentine box set, thus far limited strictly to Japan, will come to North America, as well.

The last time Kevin Shields and co. performed in the U.S. was July 5, 1992, in L.A., but come September’s ATP festival, they be joined by the following acts, with more expected to be announced shortly:

Built to Spill performing Perfect From Now On
Meat Puppets performing Meat Puppets II
Thurston Moore performing Psychic Hearts
Tortoise performing Millions Now Living Will Never Die
Shellac
Mogwai
Polvo
Thee Silver Mount Zion Orchestra
Low
Fuck Buttons
Autolux
The Drones
Wooden Shjips
Edan with Dagha
