Muzion

Mentalité Mourne Morne…

BY Del F. CowiePublished Sep 1, 1999

Muzion are four Montreal-based Haitians who are the first French urban act to snag a deal with a major in this country. Consisting of MCs Dramatik, J.Kyll, Impossible and vocalist LD-One, the group explores several different moods and socially conscious topics, while adding touches of English and Creole into their music. The album is musically held down by consistently head-nodding production courtesy of Haig V.(of Bran Van 3000 fame) among others that, at times, captures the sombre atmosphere of Mobb Deep. However, the music’s wide variety is displayed on the joyous “La Vi Ti Neg,” the interesting change-ups on “Le Concept (Tome 3)” and the bubbly bass underlying the spoken-word skits. A consistently interesting debut from a highly promising group.
