MUTEK Announces Initial 2012 Lineup with Tim Hecker, Kode9, Nicolas Jaar, Stephen O'Malley, Shackleton

Let's hope that the organizers of MUTEK festival aren't superstitious, because 2012 will mark the annual Montreal event's 13th edition. This year, the five-day festival will be taking place between May 30 and June 3, and we now have the primary list of performers to whet our appetite for the electronic music that lies ahead.

Among the notable acts already confirmed are a collaborative performance featuring Tim Hecker and Sunn 0)))'s Stephen O'Malley at St. James United Church, a DJ set from Kode9, a surround sound gig by Monolake, and a trio show led by Nicolas Jaar. Other confirmed acts include Shackleton, Detroit techno lifer Jeff Mills, Canuck techno star Mathew Jonson, Blondes, Ursula Bogner, Apparat, and Roll the Dice.

MUTEK will also play host to the annual conference for the International Cities for Advanced Sound, a network of non-profit organizations that promotes musical and sonic cultures. There will also be a music/visual space known the CineChamber.

Tickets for MUTEK are currently available at discount prices from the festival's website. Full festival passes cost $228.70 after tax and service fees, while weekend passes are $130.97. Be forewarned that the prices will go up at of April 17.
