Published Feb 03, 2009Heads up musical weirdos: Vancouver's Music Waste has begun taking submissions. From now until April 15, the independently minded event has put a call out for acts to join its always interesting, always left-of-centre music fest, which this year will takes place in the city's Downtown Eastside between June 10 and 13.
Like last year, organizers are asking bands to email [email protected] to take part in the Only-presented event. And as is the norm with Music Waste, this is an entirely open call for submissions, with any and all musical shit disturbers encouraged to get in touch, no fancy-pants EPKs or publicists required.
At Music Waste 2008, more than 50 Vancouver-area bands played the event, including Japandroids, Mutators, Modern Creatures and the Mohawk Lodge, with passes going for a mere $15, or for no more than $5 per show. At Music Waste 2009, just as many bands are expected to play, and with this year marking the festival's 15th year of independence, there have been hints of some extra special new additions, such as Art Waste, a new visual art offshoot of the main festival that would see a similar setup for several gallery exhibitions.
Stayed tuned for more updates on the festival line-up, as well as ticket information.
