"Would it be possible for you to make a song about Napoleon Bonaparte? And since I'm such a big fan of techno music, could you make it to a danceable beat? Like maybe some kind of breezy voice saying ‘Napoleon: A force...of history.’ That would be cool."

"I loved that request. I thought it was hilarious, and I didn’t know how serious the guy was. That song just wrote itself," explains Andrew Huang, the creative force behind Songs To Wear Pants To (www.songstowearpantsto.com). Huang has built quite an audience for his short, bizarre songs, all based on requests sent in from visitors to the site, recently revamped in celebration of song #100. The genesis of the idea came from that most fertile artistic ground: unemployment: "I thought maybe I’d sell a personalised song on eBay, and that went for quite a bit of money. So I did it a couple of more times, and then decided I’d do a web site for short, free songs." That website, which features such gems as "I Am A Mechanical Shark" and "The THX Sound With Just My Voice," will soon include a song about this very article. Seriously.
