Muse

"Dead Inside" (NSFW lyric video)

When Muse shared their Drones track "Psycho," the British rock trio promised that the album's official lead single "Dead Inside" would follow on March 23. That day has now arrived and, sure enough, so has the lyric video for "Dead Inside."

The song is a theatrical, darkly synth-spiked anthem that's steeped in paranoia and anger. The accompanying black and white visuals were directed by Tom Kirk and they show kaleidoscopic shots of a woman's nude body while the words pop up in the foreground.

Frontman Matt Bellamy said in a statement, "This is where the story of the album begins, where the protagonist loses hope and becomes 'Dead Inside,' therefore vulnerable to the dark forces introduced in 'Psycho' and which ensue over the next few songs on the album, before eventually defecting, revolting and overcoming these dark forces later in the story."

Drones is due on June 9 through Warner Bros. Records.
