Surf rock-leaning Montreal unit the Muscadettes are floating a pair of EP releases our way this year, with first instalment Side A landing April 21 through PaperCup Music/Costume Records. Even before that record arrives, though, the band are streaming their sunny single, "I'm in Love."
Featuring the core duo of twin sisters Chantal and Kathleen Ambridge, the project deliver reverb-drenched six-stringing, crashing drums and fuzz- and candy-coated vocal harmonies akin to early Best Coast recordings. Though we're still coping with a chilly winter, the Muscadettes may just have given you the first song to put onto your summer beach party playlist.
The five-song Side A was recorded by Malajube member Ryan Battistuzzi at Montreal's Breakglass Studio and mixed in Los Angeles by Lewis Pesacov (Best Coast, Fidlar). A due date has yet to be confirmed for the Side B EP.
