Multiple People Dead and Missing After Fire Breaks Out at 100% Silk Warehouse Party

Tragedy has struck the independent electronic music community after a warehouse party in Oakland, CA, caught fire last night (December 2). Multiple people have been pronounced dead, while many others are unaccounted for. The event featured some artists from the 100% Silk label and included performances from Golden Donna, Cherushii and Nackt, among others.

As the East Bay Times reports, the party took place at a live-work space in Oakland's Fruitvale district. The fire started ravaging the two-storey building around 11:30 p.m. PST.

Of the estimated 50 to 70 people in attendance, nine were found dead on the second floor of the building. At least 25 others are still missing. The East Bay Times says this could prove to be the deadliest structure fire in Oakland's history.

Friends and family of the show's attendees have started posting on the Facebook event page to look for their loved ones and confirm that they're okay.

100% Silk released an official statement about the fire. Read that below, where you'll also find firefighter footage from the scene.

CORRECTION (12/05, 1:15 p.m. EST): An earlier version of this story stated the party was hosted by 100% Silk. The label, however, has clarified that "100% Silk did not organize, host, promote, or have any involvement in this tragic event beyond releasing music by some of the artists involved."
