Multiple Black Flag Lineups Reuniting in 2013

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jan 25, 2013

It's Black Flag Friday, apparently, as two separate line-ups of the celebrated punk band have announced they'll be getting together to play reunion sets this year.

Earlier this morning (January 25), it was reported that the hardcore legends would reunite this August at the UK's Hevy Fest. The line-up will feature band founder/guitarist Greg Ginn, drummer Robo, and Vancouver-based vocalist Ron Reyes (who had been billed on 1980's Jealous Again EP as Chavo Pederast). Early reports claimed that fleet-fingered bassist Chuck Dukowski would be delivering the low-end damage, but it's since been confirmed that he will not be playing the gig.

Dukowski will, however, still rise above and deliver some of the band's oldies this year with the similarly-titled FLAG, which includes founding Black Flag member/vocalist Keith Morris, who currently screams for OFF!, and drummer Bill Stevenson. The band are also joined by Stevenson's Descendents buddy Steve Egerton, who'll sling a six-string in Ginn's stead. A press release notes that FLAG will tour the U.S. and Europe later hits year, and will perform "sets that pull from all eras of Black Flag's history." Keep your fingers crossed for a Morris-sung run-through of "I Love You" or "My Ghetto."

FLAG had previously got together at a 2011 concert in California, where they played Black Flag's debut single Nervous Breakdown in full. You can see that performance, as well as both variations' developing tour schedules, down below.
